Victoria Naturopathic Doctor.
Reiki Master.
Presence.
I strive to provide compassionate and effective care for individuals of all ages and from all walks of life. I love to empower and inspire people to be the healthiest versions of themselves, by guiding and educating them to make positive changes, thereby allowing their innate healing processes to prevail. I value the healing potential of the doctor-patient interaction itself as one of the most powerful tools in medicine. As such, I provide a caring, supportive, non-judgmental and easy-going presence in which patients are encouraged to explore their own mind-body connection and unique path to healing.
Individualised medicine with options that align with your values.
I recognize that each person’s health goals and experiences of health imbalances are unique, so I work with patients to come to decisions about their healthcare that suit their individual needs and values.
Education, Background and Passions
I was raised in Cordova Bay, Victoria. I completed my B.A. in medical anthropology and archaeology at McGill University, during which time I enjoyed gaining adventurous archaeological experience on Easter Island. I considered pursuing graduate studies in palaeopathology, but realised that while the people of the past were very interesting, I was ultimately called to work with the living! A passion for health, a desire to be of service to others, and my own journey of personal wellness lead me to naturopathic medicine. The broad scope of naturopathic medicine appealed to me, as it embraces the best of Western medicine and “alternative” modalities, considers the person as a whole, allows the doctor to be a detective in the thorough search for the root cause of imbalances, and provides time for patients to be fully heard.
I completed my premedical studies at UVic, and completed the 4-year Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine program at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine (BINM) in New Westminster, BC. During my student clinical rotations, I enjoyed the opportunity to work with patients of all walks of life, including: low-income families with children, HIV+ individuals, members of the LGBTQ community, palliative care patients, and the Katzie First Nation.
I am also a Reiki Master with over 20 years of experience. I marvel at how Reiki can bring people into a healing state of deep relaxation, and makes healing energy available to the recipient, whose own consciousness directs it to be used for their highest good.
I had the great privilege of completing an intensive cancer care mentorship with Dr. Neil McKinney, ND for a year, and I recently edited and indexed the latest edition of his textbook Naturopathic Oncology.
When I'm not "doctoring", the things I enjoy most are spending time with family, growing vegetables and herbs, long-distance walking, hiking, kayaking, Qi-Gong, Kundalini yoga, classical singing, volunteering, and ever deepening self and spiritual exploration. I am delighted to have returned to my roots on the Island and to be serving the people of Victoria!
I am currently accepting new patients, and am available for in-person appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Horizons Holistic Health Clinic:
#401 - 3939 Quadra St.
Victoria, BC V8X 1J5
Please note that as a naturopathic doctor licensed in the province of British Columbia, I can only treat patients who are either residents of British Columbia or the Yukon, or who are able to travel to BC to consult with me in-person. My regulatory College does not accept telemedicine appointments as an alternative to in-person appointments for patients outside of BC and the Yukon.
As I serve immune-compromised patients I require masks to be worn during in-person consultations. If you are unable to wear a mask, please contact the clinic to inquire about other possible arrangements.
